"We found fractional-ds1.com via a Web Search in Google while shopping for reliable/competitive T-1 lines. Adam Edwards, a fractional-ds1.com consultant, asked me questions without selling anything and then delivered an array of options with pros and cons for each. I've dealt with many types of vendors as a "decision maker" for multiple companies and fractional-ds1.com is a model for success. Needless to say we are in the process of converting all of our data lines throughout the country with the help of fractional-ds1.com."

Fractional DS1 lines are less expensive but have a fraction of the capacity of a full T1 line. Because fractional DS1 has the advantage of being repeater driven, it is far more available than DSL lines. Fractional DS1 can be provided to virtually any address in the continental US. Fractional DS1 can be provisioned many miles from the central office. Another advantage of fractional DS1 is that it is far more stable and reliable than DSL, and is often provided with a service level agreement which guarantees it’s reliability. For these reasons, fractional DS1 is a great option for small businesses for which it is essential to have a dedicated (not shared) line, which is very reliable, has guaranteed bandwidth, and/or which need high speed internet but are beyond the reach of DSL. Fractional DS1 lines are commonly confused with burstable T1 (can “burst” up to full T1 when needed) and integrated T1 (can provide multiple services over one T1 line), but actually has different capabilities.  T3 or DS3?

Written by: Dennis Green - Jul 5, 2008

In the context of telecommunications, the terms T3 and DS3 are often used synonymously to describe a 45 mbps (megabits per second) circuit. A T3/DS3 is the equivalent of 28 T1s. People who are more technically inclined will often refer to DS3 when they are talking about the configuration of the circuit, and T3 if they are referring to the physical connection which carries the circuit. Most people, however, use both terms interchangeably. T3/DS3 is used for carrying both voice (in the form of data) and data traffic. T3/DS3 is commonly used for larger point-to-point circuits, MPLS (multiprotocol label switching), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), internet traffic, call centers, and videoconferencing.
